There Ain’t No Party Like a Mario Party!
Nintendo revealed in a press release earlier today that Mario Party 9, yet another instalment in the popular interactive board game franchise for Wii, will be hitting European stores on 2 March, 2012.
The latest addition to the Mario Party series incorporates some funky new features, such as Boss Battles, where up to four players must put their differences aside and team up to defeat a number of classic Mario boss characters, ultimately leading to a final showdown with Bowser. However, this isn’t strictly a team mode, as you are awarded mini stars based on your ranking and how much damage you deal each boss. By delivering the final blow, you receive a bonus that increases your chances of winning.
Party Adventure mode, however, shakes up the rules that the series is traditionally known for and allows four players to move through the board in a single vehicle. Players take it in turns to be captain of the vehicle; this mode is intended to help streamline the gameplay and keep everyone involved in the action. The mode promises to add another layer of strategy to the game, by letting you choose the best path for you on your turn, while also causing havoc for other players.
Mario Party 9 includes 80 brand new minigames and much of the ol’ Mario gang will be there in playable form.
