This Week, You Can Be a Prince!

Good news for retro gamers this week – there are two versions of the classic action platforming game, Jordan Mechner’s Prince of Persia, available for download this week. Wii owners will have access to the SNES version of the game, while 3DS owners have yet another addition to the Virtual Console in the form of the Game Boy Color version. Both are very playable and should be considered by those who want to play a retro classic or want to see the franchise’s roots.

Otherwise, this week sees a fun mini-game collection for 3DS and DSi owners, as well as a bit of tower defence. It’s certainly one way to (literally) hold out until the 3DS’ next big release. Remember that, as per usual, these downloads won’t be available until Thursday on their respective download services.

Prince of Persia (3DS, €5.00/£4.50, Ubisoft)

With classic platforming action, frightful traps and epic sword fights, Prince of Persia is one of the greatest games ever made. Now you can download it for 3DS and relive the adventure. This is the Game Boy Colour version of the game, which was largely faithful to the original Mechner classic.

40-in-1 Explosive Megamix (3DS/DSi, €8.00/£7.20/800 Nintendo DSi Points, Nordcurrent)

Featuring an explosive mix (see what we did there?) of action, puzzle and shooting games, 40-in-1 Explosive Megamix promises to offer hours of fun with its classic and new, original activities to try out.

Come On! Heroes (3DS/DSi, €2.00/£1.80/200 Nintendo DSi Points, CIRCLE Ent.)

If you’re after classic tower defence action, then Come On! Heroes is right up your street. Fend off hordes of heroes who are trying to rescue the fair maiden you’ve kidnapped. Oh, you dastardly devil!

Prince of Persia (Wii, 800 Wii Points, Ubisoft)

The classic platforming adventure also sees a release on Wii this week. Ported superbly across to the SNES back in the day, the joypad controls are very easy to use.

Other Download Activity

On the media front, it’s a relatively quiet week for the 3DS. The next instalment of Circus 3D is available for viewing on Nintendo Video.
