PS Vita 3G Details Emerge
Not as Bad as You Thought It to Be
With only a month left until the release of the PlayStation Vita on Feb. 22, AT&T has released more information regarding the 3G plans for the handheld console.
There will be two plans available for those who purchase the Wi-Fi and 3G version for $299.99. The first plan offers 250 MB for $14.99 while the other plan of 2 GB costs $25. Thankfully, users can subscribe to either data plan on a monthly basis, so for those who feared long-term contracts, let out a sigh of relief. In addition, those who activate their Vita with the plan will be able to download a free game from a list of specified titles at the PlayStation Store.
AT&T’s two plans differ greatly from that of NTT DoCoMo, the service provider in Japan. Their three prepaid plans call for a certain number of hours of usage over a set amount of days. While we did report that the Vita will have a download limit of 20 MB over 3G, AT&T has not specified if that limit will pertain to the North American version of the handheld. They did not give out any information regarding overage charges as well, but we could hear more from them in the coming weeks.
Some of the games that are confirmed to have 3G capabilities are:
- LittleBigPlanet
- Wipeout 2048
- ModNation Racers: Road Trip
